Clothing<\/h2>\n

If there\u2019s one item you\u2019ll wind up with a lot of as new parents, it\u2019s clothes. We\u2019re not going to get into the laundry list of why<\/em> you might need multiple outfit changes over the course of a day, but it\u2019s a long list. And all those clothes add up, especially as your babies become toddlers. For everything that you don\u2019t throw away because of stains, you\u2019ll likely need a place to store it until you can decide what to do with it. That\u2019s where storage units come in. They\u2019ll keep your kids\u2019 closets from overflowing and allow you to save the basement or attic space for bigger items that need storage.<\/p>\n

Regardless of whether you\u2019re keeping clothes for your next baby or to donate (or sell) to someone else, give everything a good wash and then pack them into vacuum-sealed storage bags. This will help them take up less space. You\u2019re now ready to pack them away in boxes or totes. If something can\u2019t be taken apart without a lot of trouble, try to store it in a secure place where it won\u2019t run the risk of falling over. Never pile boxes on top of it, especially if it\u2019s something like a glider.<\/p>\n

Dreading the struggles of reassembling cribs and other furniture? A great way to keep the instructions safe is to use a plastic pouch and zip-tie it to the bottom of mattress springs, on furniture legs, etc. You can also tape a zipped storage bag with extra parts and Allen wrenches to parts for easy assembly and disassembly.<\/p>\n

Car Seats<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Storing car seats can be a tricky proposition, because unlike gliders, bouncers, and cribs, there\u2019s an expiration date on their use. Each car seat clearly lists the date of manufacture and the final date that it can be used by, so make sure you\u2019re adhering to that information when you put it into storage.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t expect that you\u2019d keep the box for car seats\u2014especially if you have multiple ones\u2014but don\u2019t throw away the instruction guide, even if you\u2019re putting it into storage.
